Music Extracurricular Activities

4-5 Choir

The 4-5 Choir is a group of singers that meets once a cycle at lunch break (Day 6’s).  The choir is a group of dedicated students who love to sing and perform for others.  We sing unison and two-part music in a variety of styles.  We perform at concerts, assemblies and like to perform in the community whenever possible.  Our focus is improving our sound, growing in our part-singing skills and sharing music with others.

Grade 5 Handbells

Grade 5 Handbells are offered the opportunity to play handbells after Christmas. The Handbell Ringers will play at assemblies and perform in the community whenever possible.  They meet once a cycle at Lunch Break.  A number of ringing sessions are available that teach basic and more advanced techniques.  Ringing helps students learn to be accountable to a group, read and play music and explore all the sounds the handbell can create.  Ringing in a group can be a powerful team-building experience.

A Capella Group

This student initiative is for Grade 4-5 students who want to learn to sing in the a capella style.  Students are learning to select vocal parts in popular songs, beatbox and perform in small groups.
